Mayor Terry Beckham brought the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. He led us with the Pledge of Allegiance. Alderman Bill Bennett gave a word of prayer.

Those Present: Mayor Terry Beckham, Alderman Jason Ward, Alderman Bill Bennett, Alderman Curtis Crouch, Alderwoman Lula Patterson, City Clerk Jamey Griffith, City Finance Office Regina Slovensky, James Hayes, Harry Martin, Dennis Bell, Virgina Frick, Duane DeRennaux, Maureen Kush.

Mayor Terry Beckham announced two new items to be added to the agenda. The first one the Passing the election Ordinance, second allowing Virgina Frick to ask permission to use the City Park for a fundraiser this summer, Alderman Jason Ward made the motion to approve the agenda for Monday March 2, 2026, with the two additions. Alderman Bill Bennett seconds all in favor motion carries. Alderman Jason Ward makes a motion to approve the meeting minutes for February 17, 2026. Alderman Curtis Crouch seconds, all in favor of motion carries.

Unfinished Business: Dennis Bell was present to talk about his new subdivision and try to answer any questions council may have. After a long discussion Mayor Terry Beckham said he will need to decide on what to do about some of the cost involved.

Mayor shared with Council that the Jonas Museum garage is sliding off the foundation. After much discussion council decided to spend some of the $30,000 that has been appointed to the Jonas Museum on maintenance. This will allow the Jonas Museum garage to be placed back on the foundation, also to repair the siding on the garage. There will be a cap on the cost not to exceed $5,000. Alderman Curtis Crouch made a motion to go ahead with the repairs on the Jonas Museum, Alderwoman Lula Patterson seconds all in favor motion carries.

Next on the agenda Mayor Terry Beckham announced the council needs to decide as to what to do with the Gazebo. After much discussion the council decided that it is time to get rid of the gazebo but save the steeple and salvage whatever they can from the gazebo. Alderman Jason Ward made a motion to save the steeple and salvage what we can. Alderman Curtis Crouch seconds, Alderman Bill Bennett Aye, Alderwoman Lula Patterson abstains. Council will make the Historical Society aware of the disassembly of the gazebo. Mayor Terry Beckham will have the poles that were put in place to hold the gazebo roof at Hoppe Springs removed.

New Business: Jennifer Frick approached council wanting to use the City Park for her Granddaughter Soccer team, the Mid Mo inferno. She is requesting to have food vendors, have raffles and possibly have some adults do 3 on 3 to raise money. She is requesting mid-May or June. She will be back in April with more information.

Payables were: $48.366.28 Alderman Jason Ward made a motion to pay the payables Alderman Bill Bennett seconds all in favor motion carries.

Chief Sherman: Absent

Jason Evans: Absent

Parks: James Hayes announced that the Pickle Ball Paddle is almost complete and light poles are in the ground so it will be installed soon at the Community Park.

Streets: nothing

City Clerk Jamey Griffith: Shared that there were 19-shut offs, 8-still unpaid, and 1-final billed. City Clerk Jamey Griffith also shared that she had spoken with our city attorney, and if a business owner does not comply with our ordinances and is not current in business license or real estate taxes, that we can go shut their utilities off.

Public: James Hayes is requesting that he be reimbursed for the towing bill he paid out of pocket for moving the gazebo. Alderman Jason Ward said if James Hayes can produce a receipt to the city, they will reimburse him. Alderman Bill Bennett seconds all in favor motion carries.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Room.

With nothing more to discuss Alderman Curtis Crouch makes a motion to adjourn at 7:37 p.m. Alderman Jason Ward seconds all in favor, motion carries.
