Mayor Terry Beckham brought the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. He led us with the Pledge of Allegiance. Alderman Jason Ward gave a word of prayer.
Those Present: Mayor Terry Beckham, Alderman Jason Ward, Alderman Bill Bennett, Alderman Curtis Crouch, Alderwoman Lula Patterson, City Superintendent Jason Evans, Police Chief Michael Sherman, City Clerk Jamey Griffith, City Finance Office Regina Slovensky, Harry Martin.
Alderman Jason Ward made the motion to approve the agenda for Monday December 15, 2025. Alderwoman Lila Patterson seconds all in favor motion carries. Alderman Jason Ward makes a motion to approve the meeting minutes for December 1, 2025. Alderman Bill Bennett seconds, all in favor of motion carries.
Unfinished Business: Nothing
New Business: Mayor Terry Beckham asked council opinion on moving January 19, 2026, meeting to January 20, 2026, to observe Martin Luther King Jr Day. With council approval the meeting, be moved to the 20th.
Planning Zoning: Nothing
Payables were: $122,895.34 Alderman Curtis Crouch made the motion to pay the payables Bill Bennett seconds all in favor motion carried.
Chief Sherman: End of year report. Chief announced that they had 530 police reports, 802 traffic stops, 110 summons, 35 warrant arrests. All officers are up to date on their post hours, Thursday is shop with a cop at 6pm. Mayor asked about the noise ordinance signs. Chief says he is still waiting on Brooks office to get the ordinance wrote up.
Jason Evans shared his report: “The guys are out reading meters this week.” Water samples came back good. He says there are about three more days left to get the roof fixed. And they are going to salvage the metal that is left and build a machine shed out back to get things out of the weather.
Parks: nothing
Streets: nothing
City Clerk Jamey Griffith: Shared that there were 12-shut offs this, 3-still unpaid, and 0-final billed. On the usage report she shared electric sold was 74% water sold was 29% and city water used was 1%.
Public:
Next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Room.
With nothing more to discuss Alderman Curtis Crouch makes a motion to adjourn at 6:25 p.m., Alderman Bill Bennett seconds all in favor, carries motion
