Mayor Terry Beckham brought the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. He led us with the Pledge of Allegiance. Alderman Bill Bennett gave a word of prayer.
Those present: Mayor Terry Beckham, absent Alderman Jason Ward, Alderman Bill Bennett, Alderman Curtis Crouch, Alderwoman Lula Patterson, absent City Superintendent Jason Evans, absent Police Chief Michael Sherman, City Clerk Jamey Griffith, Finance Office Regina Slovensky, Harry Martin and James Hayes.
Alderman Bill Bennett makes a motion to approve the agenda for Monday December 1, 2025. With two additions under New Business, one having discussion on the Use tax being discussed by the county, along with discussion of the Jason Nichols editorial. Alderman Curtis Crouch second, all in favor, motion carries.
Unfinished Business: nothing
New Business: Use Tax – Alderman Bill Bennett spoke about the Use Tax suggesting that we check into it for the city. Curtis Crouch spoke and said we should check into it ourselves. He said this is not a new additional tax. It just simply means that if you buy something online you would pay the same tax as would here in town. It levels the playing field for the local businesses to make it more competitive. Alderman Curtis Crouch will check into this and update the council. Alderman Bill Bennett then wanted to discuss Jason Nichols news article.
Planning Zoning: Nothing
Payables: City Clerk payables were $57,797.57 Alderman Curtis Crouch made the motion to approve the payables. Alderwoman Lula Patterson seconds, all in favor motion carries.
Chief Sherman: nothing
Jason Evans: nothing
Parks: nothing
Streets: nothing
Jamey Griffith: Spoke about back taxes and late business licenses. Council would like her to check with Pat Schwent to get us a contract for the Council to look at. To see cost and what is involved in having the county collect city taxes in the future.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Room.
With nothing more to discuss Alderman Curtis Crouch makes a motion to adjourn at 6:57 p.m. Alderman Bill Bennett seconds, all in favor, carries motion.
